Day 8: Col Bagargiak to Barn near St Engrace

Yes, indeed we spent the night in a kind farmers barn.  We decided to make a huge push today after hiking an alternate route through Larau for supplies with the wonderful Steve and Lucy.  We restocked our daily bread from the boulangerie, continued on to Logibar where we stopped at a tiny roadside cafe for an orangina then proceeded up our daily mountain climb.  We walked all day through the mountains passing only the shepherds and huge packs of mountain sheep.  In France you can bivuoac after 7pm (put up tent just to sleep) as long as you are gone by the early morning.  We planned to find a nice spot to bivuouc, but alas the terrain was steep and rocky, muddy scree with no real options for tent.  The rain clouds began to creep in and we began to worry a little since we were exhausted and the next town was still over 2 hours away.  To our great relief we were blessed with a little trail magic when an old sheep farmer offered us and another hiker (Frederick, soon to become a great friend to us) his dry barn for the night.  Just as we entered the barn the clouds opened up and dumped a torrential rainfall.  So, Nelie and I climbed up the hay stacks and had a warm, dry sleep- feeling as we have everyday that miraculously things seem to work out for us on our grand adventure.
