We pulled ourselves out of our rest day in Cauterets (a perfect town for hikers to re-supply and rest for a day- including hot springs) and climbed a nice gentle but long climb out of the valley through some very wet, windy fog. We passed through some small, beautiful towns into the region of Toy- which Frederick explained translates into 'crazy or mad'- so called from a dark history of a people being isolated by steep mountains on all sides. The town of Luz now operates mainly around the skiing industry- as do the other few large mountain towns we've passed through. We camped in town with Frederick below an ancient castle and had a beer with our Dutch friend Rich before restocking at a satisfyingly huge grocery store.
