Day 13 : Gabas to Gourette

The scenery was even better today as we climed over the snow covered Hourquete d'Arre. The snow is actually very deficient this year and it was plenty soft when we got to it. The stqrt of the day sent us through an avalanche shute which was narrow and had a cable to hang onto as you gop through - a bit more than is needed but good assurance for the faint of heart. It was a long tiring climb, and the decent was socked in prety good with fog which made finging the snow covered trail down pretty tough. We met Rich from Holland on the way up who we would leap frog several times in the following days. The hike down to Gourette was long and tiring but the refuge was cozy and warm and had amazing food (more duck and vegies for the first time). It was another big day.
