Day 25 : Fos to l'Etang d'Araing

A very hot day made this one hard but beautiful. When the clouds are low, a few liters will last most of the day, but on high exposed peaks a few liters can last as little as an hour. Luckily water is still very abundant, even in this unusually dry French summer. The scree and rock were hard on the feet, but it may have just been our exaustion from yesterday. It was the hottest day we have seen so far - the thermometer said only 87F - but the humidity was high so it felt worse to us. Lots of beautiful boggy swamps near the high lake were we camped and went for a quick dip. no bugs really, sans the tick Cassie pulled out of my neck. One of the most scenic camp sites we have had so far. There is a CAF refuge at the lake that sells home-made mountain flower sorbets... this is not roughing it.
